Network Security

Network security can of course be improved. It boosts your organization's cyber security โ€” read more about network security.

Within network security, there are four different elements. In this blog, we briefly cover all four elements. We also take a deeper look at cyberattacks and how you can defend against them. As a cyber security specialist, Tozetta is happy to share knowledge on improving your digital resilience!

We've briefly explained the four aforementioned elements within network security below:

  • Network access control allows the network administrator to understand and control who does and doesn't have access to the network

  • Firewall security decides whether specific traffic on the network should be blocked or allowed. This is one of the most important elements for maintaining protection

  • Intrusion prevention system is a threat-prevention technology that examines unusual network traffic, identifies it, and prevents vulnerabilities from being exploited

  • SIEM, or Security Information and Event Management, combines security, event management and security information management into one integrated security management system

Cyberattacks

A cyberattack is an offensive action by a hacker targeting computer systems, IT infrastructure, computer networks, mobile devices and other computer equipment. Using various methods, hackers try to break into critical data and steal, damage, or alter information. Individuals or groups of individuals who carry out these cyberattacks are called hackers or cybercriminals.

Nowadays, almost 59% of the world's population uses the internet, whether on mobile devices or on computers and laptops. Technology has undergone enormous development and growth, and this continuous progress has many consequences. Hackers have come up with various ways to gain unauthorized access and carry out cyberattacks for financial and information theft. You can read about what forms of cyberattacks exist here.

Boosting network security

You can boost your network security by carrying out penetration tests. During a penetration test, a hacker from an external party (such as Tozetta) checks the network for vulnerabilities. The pentest is actually carried out by an ethical hacker โ€” that's a hacker with good intentions.
